How to identify any song with mobile phone

Music is everywhere. You may be in a taxi or cafe, or sitting on the sofa, when a new song enters your mind and gains the upper hand. Google Assistant (Android or iPhone)

Google has provided some form of song recognition for years, but it has improved significantly over time. Even if the song you want is no longer playing, you can try to hum or sing. That’s it:

  1. On an Android device, say “Hey Google” or touch and hold the home button. On the iPhone, open the Google app and tap the microphone button.
  2. Ask: “What song is this?”
  3. If the song is playing, the Google Assistant will give it a name and provide you with a YouTube link. You can also hum, whistle, or sing melody, and Google will suggest potential matches.

Unfortunately, this does not apply to Wear OS smartwatches, but you can try to use Shazam (see below) to recognize songs on your wrist.

Siri (iPhone)

You can use Siri to identify songs on most Apple devices, including Apple Watch, But it must be the original version. It will not recognize your buzzing or singing.

  1. Say “Hey Siri” or long press the power button on the iPhone or the digital crown on the Apple Watch.
  2. Ask: “What song is this?”
  3. If the song is playing, Siri will give it a name and provide you with an Apple Music link.

Shazam (Android or iPhone)
