A jar labeled “Down syndrome” (above) appears to contain more than one brain and possibly other internal organs. Many jars have no labels; little is known about these people’s brains.
Some anomalies are obvious, such as Anencephaly, Or “smooth brain,” a neurological disease that usually leads to premature death. Many brains look normal on the surface, but will swell or bleed after dissection.
